The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has conducted a comprehensive inspection of several landmark projects across the city today, expressing satisfaction with the pace of work as the administration approaches its third anniversary.
During the tour, the Minister confirmed that the Court of Appeal (Abuja Division) at Daki-Biyu has reached its final stages. The facility is expected to be handed over by May 2026, marking a significant addition to the judicial infrastructure scheduled for inauguration.
Wike also visited several residential projects for judicial officers, noting the progress of over 20 duplexes at the FCT High Court Quarters and additional units at the Magistrate Quarters.
Addressing security concerns, the Minister, who announced a strategic adjustment to the perimeter of the quarters said: “We noticed adjoining lands being developed nearby and decided to take over those areas.
“For security reasons, those living within the judges’ quarters must be easily identifiable. We are moving the boundary walls to ensure a secure environment.”
While the High Court and Magistrate quarters are slated for May completion, the Minister noted that the residences for the Chief Judge of the FCT and the Presidents of the Court of Appeal, Federal High Court, and National Industrial Court are expected to be finished by October 2026.
The inspection concluded at the Abuja City Gate, which is undergoing a massive remodeling to better reflect the capital’s identity.
However, the Minister credited First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for the vision behind the redesign.
Some key features of the remodeled City Gate include: a grand water fountain representing the 36 states and the FCT, dedicated spaces for public recreation and photography as well as an upgraded landscaping to create a distinct “arrival” experience for visitors.
“By and large, we are meeting our timelines. We are happy with the quality of the job being delivered by Julius Berger, and we are confident these projects will be ready to mark the President’s third year in office”, the Minister stated.
