Tinubu appoints Aliyu as PTDF Executive Secretary, renews Abdulaziz’s TCN mandate

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu as the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).
He succeeds Ahmed Galadima Aminu, who resigned to pursue the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State.
In a concurrent development, President Tinubu has renewed the appointment of Engineer Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) for a second and final term.
According to a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, both appointments take immediate effect.
Before this appointment, Professor Aliyu served as the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education.
He is a distinguished academic and administrator recognized for his expertise in research, education, and institutional leadership.
President Tinubu tasked Professor Aliyu with leveraging his professional background to reposition the PTDF, specifically focusing on human capital development, innovation, and providing strategic support to the oil and gas sector in alignment with national priorities.
It was gathered that the renewal of Engineer Abdulaziz’s tenure at the TCN follows a comprehensive assessment of his performance.
The Presidency noted that under his leadership, the TCN has achieved significant milestones, including: Enhanced national grid stability.
Expansion of transmission capacity. Modernization of the power transmission system.
Engineer Abdulaziz possesses over three decades of experience in the power sector and has played a pivotal role in advancing regional electricity integration through his leadership within the West African Power Pool (WAPP).
In his concluding remarks, President Tinubu urged both appointees to carry out their duties with integrity, diligence, and a commitment to national service in accordance with the administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
