The Yobe Leadership and Innovation Summit 2026, has ended with a strong endorsement of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s transformative governance, particularly his deliberate inclusion of young people in policy formulation and implementation.
The one-day summit, held at Timbab Continental Hotel, Damaturu, brought together youth leaders, political stakeholders, and influencers from all 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) to celebrate the administration’s achievements in human capital development, infrastructure, institutional strengthening, and post-conflict recovery.
In a communiqué issued by Alhaji Baba Shehu, Co-Convener of the summit, the group acknowledged that Governor Buni’s administration has redefined Yobe State’s development trajectory and nurtured a generation of responsible, politically conscious young leaders.
The summit reaffirmed total alignment with Buni’s political direction and resolved to mobilise youth-driven grassroots structures across all 17 LGAs to strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) electoral base and secure decisive victories in upcoming elections.
The summit also commended the governor’s deliberate inclusion of young professionals in governance, noting that this has strengthened institutional capacity, promoted mentorship, and advanced participatory governance for sustainable development.
The group also recognised significant progress under Governor Buni across education, healthcare, infrastructure, commerce, poverty reduction, and post-conflict recovery — positioning Yobe State on a path of resilience and inclusive growth.
While appreciating existing gains, the summit strongly advocated for institutionalising youth inclusion across all tiers of governance, including local government councils, state and national assemblies, the state executive council, campaign councils, and transition committees, as a pathway to leadership continuity.
Participants resolved to deepen collaboration among young leaders across the 17 LGAs, forming a cohesive and disciplined youth bloc committed to advancing the governor’s enduring legacies through loyalty, strategic engagement, and sustained support for the administration’s vision.
