Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, following an agreement among key party stakeholders.
Adeola confirmed his emergence while addressing journalists alongside fellow aspirants, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Abiodun Akinlade, noting that the decision was reached to present a united front ahead of the governorship contest.
The senator expressed gratitude to party leaders and members for endorsing him, as well as to the state governor for what he described as “exemplary leadership” during a critical period. He also acknowledged the role of Ogun West stakeholders, describing the development as a historic opportunity for the district.
“There is no winner and no loser. We are one united and indivisible family,” Adeola said, stressing the need for cohesion within the party and across the state.
He commended Isiaka and Akinlade for their “maturity and sacrifice” in agreeing to the consensus arrangement, adding that the move underscored the commitment of party leaders to unity and progress.
Adeola further pledged to build on the achievements of the current administration, particularly in infrastructure and economic development, promising continuity and improved governance.
“Our collective goal is the unity of Ogun West, the unity of our party, and the unity of Ogun State as a whole,” he said.
Calling on party supporters to avoid internal divisions, the APC candidate urged members to “speak with one voice and act with one purpose” in pursuit of electoral victory and the overall development of the state.
He assured residents of Ogun State of “a new dawn” and reiterated his commitment not to disappoint either the party or the electorate if elected.
