LG Electronics has commissioned a solar-powered borehole and a free mobile laundry service in Osusu-Amankwa, Aba, Abia State.
The initiative is part of the company’s push to deepen social impact and expand access to clean energy solutions in underserved communities.
The project, unveiled on Thursday, provides residents with safe and reliable water supply, independent of erratic electricity.
It also introduces a solar-powered mobile laundry unit offering free services to ease domestic burdens.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Head of Corporate Marketing, LG Electronics, Mr Paul Mba, said the intervention reflects a people-centred approach to development.
He noted that the project was designed to address real community needs while promoting environmental sustainability.
Mba said the firm remained committed to delivering solutions that improve livelihoods and protect the environment.
Her Royal Majesty Ugoeze Esther Adanma Ikonne described the intervention as a major relief for residents.
She said access to clean water would improve public health and reduce the stress faced by women and children.
An Autonomous Community Chief, Chief Ajuba Amaechi, said the project would strengthen long-term community resilience.
He added that the initiative demonstrated the benefits of collaboration between private organisations and local communities.
A resident, Mrs Ngozi Eze, expressed gratitude, noting that the intervention would make life easier and safer for families.
LG said the project followed a similar solar-powered borehole initiative recently executed in Owerri.
The company added that the intervention aligns with its global environmental, social and governance framework focused on sustainable development and social inclusion.
Residents commended the effort, describing it as a step towards improved living conditions and community development.
