INEC EPM team visits Action Alliance HQ, pledges cooperation for credible polls

A delegation from the Election and Party Monitoring (EPM) Department of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters visited the National Headquarters of Action Alliance (AA) in Abuja on Tuesday for a monitoring and familiarization tour.

This was contained in a statement made available to the media in Kaduna today.

The 10-member delegation, led by Deputy Director Masaud Hassan, was received by the National Chairman of Action Alliance, Aare Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, along with members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

During the visit, Hassan stated that the team was at the AA National Headquarters because the EPM is a key unit responsible for monitoring party conventions, primaries, and campaign finance in line with its statutory mandate.

He described the exercise as part of INEC’s routine engagement with registered political parties to enhance compliance and foster mutual understanding ahead of upcoming electoral activities.

Hassan assured the party of INEC’s cooperation, emphasizing that under the leadership of Prof. Jose Amupitan, the commission aims to conduct free, fair, and credible elections across the country.

He added that the EPM department remains dedicated to its core responsibilities, ensuring that political party activities adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.

In response, AA National Chairman Aare Adekunle Rufai Omoaje welcomed the delegation and called the visit timely and important for strengthening institutional collaboration between INEC and political parties.

Omoaje highlighted that the EPM department oversees monitoring political party activities, ensuring compliance with the Electoral Act 2022, and organizing the Election Monitoring and Support Center (EMSC).

He assured the visiting team of the full support of Action Alliance members in fulfilling their duties effectively.

According to him, the party remains committed to due process, internal democracy, and full adherence to INEC guidelines on party administration, primaries, and campaign finance reporting.

Omoaje further stated that Action Alliance will continue to engage constructively with the commission to promote transparency and accountability in politics.

The visit concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to collaborate in safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process and building public trust in Nigeria’s democracy.
