A former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has criticised former Kano governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, describing him as inconsistent in his political alignment.
Ganduje said although his political camp once followed Kwankwaso into the All Progressives Congress from the People’s Democratic Party, the former governor later abandoned the platform, forcing others to chart their own course.
Speaking during an interview on BBC Hausa, monitored in Abuja, Ganduje alleged that Kwankwaso has developed a pattern of moving across parties in search of relevance, noting that such shifts have weakened his political standing.
According to him, while Kwankwaso went on to align with the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP ) and formed a government, his former allies remained behind and reorganised politically.
Ganduje added that through what he described as a calculated strategy, his camp was able to reclaim control of Kano’s political structure, insisting that power in the state now rests with their group.
Kwankwaso’s recent political movements have drawn attention following his reported exits from the NNPP to the African Democratic Congress, (ADC), and subsequently to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, (NDC) where he aligned with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The developments continue to stir reactions within Nigeria’s evolving political landscape ahead of future elections.
