The President of the Helpline Social Support Initiative (HSSI), Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, has hailed thelaunch of the Nigeria Women’s Charter for National Development as a watershed moment that will redefine the role of women in the nation’s governance and economy.
The Charter was officially unveiled during the 2026 Women Mega Empowerment and Rally, held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium. Under the banner of “The Power of 10 Million,” the initiative seeks to unite women across all 36 states into a singular, formidable socio-political force.
In a statement released following the event, Dr. Ahmadu described the Charter as more than just a document; she called it the “beginning of a new chapter” for female influence in Nigeria.
”This Charter represents the collective voice and aspirations of women across the federation. It has the potential to reshape governance, deepen our democracy, and accelerate national progress,” Dr. Ahmadu stated.
She specifically lauded the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, for her “bold and strategic” leadership in organizing the rally and turning the First Lady’s vision into a tangible policy framework.
The event highlighted a direct shift from theoretical empowerment to practical financial inclusion.
The First Lady commended the Minister for successfully executing the directive to “put money in the hands of women.”
Minister Suleiman-Ibrahim described the movement as a “coordinated force” of 10 million women aligned to transform the Nigerian landscape.
Also, the Minister credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for moving beyond rhetoric to ensure women are central to national development.
The high point of the rally was the formal presentation of the Charter by the Minister to the First Lady, for onward transmission to the President.
Dr. Ahmadu noted that the visible support from the highest levels of government has “ignited a movement” that will ensure women are no longer spectators in the Nigerian project but active drivers of the economy and decision-making processes.
”When you align 10 million women,” Dr. Ahmadu concluded, “you aren’t just holding a rally; you are securing the future of the nation.”
