The African Democratic Congress faction led by Nafiu Bala Gombe has suspended the sale and purchase of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms pending the determination of a suit before the Federal High Court.

The decision was part of resolutions reached at the party’s Board of Trustees meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.

In a communiqué signed by the BoT Secretary, Rufus Akanmi, the faction warned members against proceeding with the purchase of forms, saying such action would be at their own risk.

The communiqué stated that the party would not accept liability for consequences arising from the purchase of forms contrary to the directive.

The BoT also commended the Supreme Court of Nigeria over its April 30, 2026 judgment, describing the ruling as a milestone for constitutional democracy and the rule of law in Nigeria’s political system.

The faction urged members of the coalition within the party, including the camp loyal to David Mark, to work with the leadership of Gombe in the interest of party unity.

According to the communiqué, the collaboration was necessary to ensure the party’s effective participation in the forthcoming general elections and the emergence of credible candidates for elective offices.

The statement added that the party remained committed to equity, fairness, transparency and justice under Gombe’s leadership.

The BoT also directed the National Working Committee to constitute caretaker committees in states where the tenure of state executives had expired.

It further ordered the immediate commencement of processes for a mini national convention to fill vacant positions created by the resignation of some members of the National Working Committee.

“The attention of Senator David Mark and all esteemed members of the African Democratic Congress is formally drawn to the ongoing sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms,” the communiqué added.
