The Labour Party (LP) says it is witnessing increased interest from politicians as aspirants continue to purchase nomination and expression of interest forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party’s spokesperson, Ken Eluma Asogwa, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, noting that several hopefuls stormed the party’s national secretariat in Abuja to obtain forms for various elective positions.
Among those who purchased forms is former First Lady of Ondo State, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, who is seeking the Senate seat for Imo East Senatorial District.
Others include former House of Representatives member for Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency, Adamawa State, Hassan Mamman Barguwa, who is also seeking a return to the National Assembly.
Also listed are Dennis Chibuzor Oshai, contesting for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in Delta State; Eric Edward, vying for Hong State Constituency in Adamawa State; and Mohammed Hayatu Atiku, seeking election into the Uba/Gaya State Constituency in Adamawa State, among others.
Speaking after purchasing his nomination form, Barguwa commended the Labour Party for what he described as a smooth and transparent process.
He expressed confidence in the party’s growing influence, particularly in Adamawa State and the wider North-East region, adding that the LP was gaining renewed support ahead of the 2027 polls.
Party officials said more aspirants were still at the national secretariat as the sale of forms continued.
