2027: Kano Grassroots Power Brokers Line Up Behind Tinubu, Abba, Barau
Twenty-one former local government chairmen in Kano State have declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and Deputy Senate President Barau I. Jibrin ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former council chairmen made their position known during a major meeting held in Kano, where they pledged to mobilise grassroots support for the trio across the state.
In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the group expressed satisfaction with the policies of President Tinubu, particularly the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which they said was bringing meaningful development to Northern Nigeria.
“The programmes of President Tinubu are already yielding positive results in the areas of infrastructure and economic growth across the country,” the statement said.
The group consequently endorsed Tinubu for a second term in 2027, insisting that continuity would help sustain ongoing reforms and development projects.
The former chairmen also endorsed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for re-election, citing what they described as visible infrastructural transformation and people-oriented policies under his administration.
According to them, the governor’s “Kano First” agenda has positively impacted residents across different parts of the state and deserves continued public support.
On the Deputy Senate President, the group described Barau Jibrin as “a pillar of development in Kano North and Nigeria,” praising his empowerment programmes, educational interventions, road projects, and job creation initiatives.
“Barau Jibrin is not just a politician; he has distinguished himself through impactful projects and support for ordinary people,” the communiqué added.
The former chairmen further congratulated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Senator Barau over what they described as their party’s “automatic tickets,” noting that the gesture reflected confidence in their leadership and performance.
As preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum, the group vowed to embark on aggressive grassroots mobilisation across Kano State to ensure victory for all candidates of their party.
“We will protect the integrity of our party and work tirelessly to sustain the progress brought by Tinubu, Abba, and Barau,” the former chairmen stated.
