A governorship aspirant in Bauchi state, Dr. Nura Manu has vowed to resist any attempt to impose any candidate on the people, insisting that a proper primary election must be conducted to determine the person that will fly the party’s flag in the 2027 governorship election.
Manu who spoke after his screening by the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday said he is not aware of any consensus, and that he will not accept any imposition in the North East state.
“I’m not aware of any consensus arrangement in Bauchi, I am not going to step down for anybody, there is nothing like consensus”.
However, his position may run contrary to the plans of the party whose body language strongly suggests that they would prefer the consensus option of primary.
The aspirant also said he will attract a bond of over N100b to tackle insecurity and enhance the development of agriculture and education across the state.
He equally said he was upbeat about the screening exercise, adding that the Committee was thorough and professional in their approach.
On some of the areas of interest, he identified insecurity and poor educational foundation as some of the challenges he intends to confront head-on as soon as he gets into office.
“Well, the N100 billion I am talking about is not just for security. It is a N100 billion fund I am planning to bring for the state. It is meant to support many sectors, including the commercialisation of agriculture and small-scale enterprises. It is part of my three-point agenda for the state.
“And talking about the screening proper, the committee engagement has been interactive and we’ve interacted. They asked a lot of questions and we gave the answers as far as we could”.
The aspirant who sounded very confident said if given the ticket by the party, he would reclaim Bauchi state from the opposition in favour of the APC.
