ADC postpones presidential, governorship aspirants’ screenings, cites security concerns

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has postponed its presidential and governorship screening exercise earlier scheduled for this weekend to Monday, 18th May 2026.

The party cited security concerns for the postponement.

This was contained in a statement on Saturday by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi in Abuja.

All affected aspirants, the party assured, will be duly contacted with the updated schedules and necessary details.

The statement reads, “The African Democratic Congress (ADC) wishes to inform all presidential and governorship aspirants that the party’s screening exercise earlier scheduled for this weekend has been postponed to Monday, 18th May 2026.

“Furthermore, due to the security situation affecting some parts of Northern Nigeria, the screening of affected federal lawmakers aspirants will now take place in Abuja.

“All affected aspirants will be duly contacted with the updated schedules and necessary details.

“We regret any inconvenience this adjustment may cause and appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all aspirants and stakeholders”, the statement concluded.
