Kebbi Governor Commends Aspirants for Embracing Consensus
Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has commended aspirants for the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for embracing consensus.
The governor spoke during the Kebbi Central Senatorial Primary Election held at Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi.
Addressing the stakeholders and delegates at the event, Governor Idris expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the peaceful conduct of the exercise and commended APC members in Kebbi State for their discipline, loyalty, and commitment to party supremacy.
He described the successful reconciliation process among aspirants as another milestone for the ruling party in the state.
The governor particularly praised the reconciliation committee headed by former Kebbi State Governor, Ambassador Sa’idu Usman Nasamu Dakingari, for what he described as a “marvelous job” in ensuring consensus among contestants across the three senatorial districts.
He noted that the committee’s efforts had drastically reduced tension and strengthened unity within the party.
Governor Idris specifically commended Alhaji Kabir Sani Giant for stepping down unconditionally for Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero in Kebbi Central after consultations with the party leadership.
He also acknowledged similar sacrifices made by Engineer Garba Haruna and Dr. Hussaini Suleiman Kangiwa in Kebbi North, as well as Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah in Kebbi South, describing their actions as demonstrations of political maturity and commitment to the collective interest of the APC.
According to the Governor, the peaceful resolution of differences among aspirants reflected the discipline and political understanding within the APC family in Kebbi State. He assured party members that his administration would continue to operate an open-door policy while sustaining developmental projects that directly impact the lives of the people.
Governor Idris further expressed appreciation to the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana Zuru, for providing focused and God-fearing leadership to the party. He also commended party leaders, stakeholders, and members for their continued support and cooperation, which he said had contributed immensely to the successes recorded by the administration.
Speaking on national politics, the Governor reiterated Kebbi State’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the state had benefited immensely from Federal Government projects and programmes under the present administration. He recalled that Kebbi was among the first states to publicly endorse President Tinubu for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Idris urged APC members and the people of Kebbi State to massively support all APC candidates during the forthcoming elections, stressing that overwhelming votes for the party would strengthen the state’s position in attracting more federal projects, appointments, and developmental opportunities.
In his remarks after emerging as the consensus candidate for Kebbi Central Senatorial District, Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero thanked Governor Idris for his leadership role in reconciling party members and ensuring a smooth and peaceful primary election.
He pledged to build on his past achievements in education, healthcare, agriculture, empowerment, and infrastructure development if elected.
Earlier, the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana Zuru, officially announced the withdrawal of Alhaji Kabiru Sani Giant from the contest and presented Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero as the consensus candidate for Kebbi Central Senatorial District.
The affirmation was subsequently endorsed by the Chairman of the Primary Election Appeal Committee, Comrade Garba Muhammad, alongside Barrister Attahiru Maccido, Chairman of the Affirmation Committee, amid cheers from party supporters.
