Kwankwaso’s son emerges NDC governorship running mate
The governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has picked Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, the biological son of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as his running mate.
Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso is the immediate past Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Kano State.
Spokesperson of Kwankwasiyya movement, Habibu Saleh Mohammed, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday.
“HE Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo unveiled Hon Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as running mate for 2027 Governorship Election,” he stated.
The younger Kwankwaso had resigned from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration after the governor parted ways with his father
While quitting government, Mustapha had said the decision was taken “with a heavy heart”, while expressing gratitude to Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the people of Kano State.
He highlighted the experiences and lessons gained during his tenure, thanking the governor for the trust reposed in him.
“As I resign, I pray that the youth of Kano State will continue to receive the attention and support they deserve,” Mustapha said.
“I hope for the best for our sports development programmes and initiatives, and I am confident that they will flourish in the years to come.”
