Radda pays morale-boosting visit as troops sustain operation, rescue four

Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has paid an unscheduled visit to Matazu as troops sustain operations to capture bandits leader Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani, responsible for the abduction of late former defence spokesman, retired Major General Abubakar Rabe and his wife.

The operation has so far led to the rescue of the late General’s wife, and just as the governor visited, four elderly people were also rescued by the troops.

The rescued victims are Musa Yakuba, 62; Alhaji Sa’adu Dayi, 68; Mukhtar Danja, 36, and Salisu Danja, 50.

The victims were rescued during sustained military operations in areas where the criminals are believed to be operating.

Upon their rescue, medical personnel immediately attended to them for gunshot wounds sustained during their captivity. The four rescued victims were earlier seen in a photograph with Major General Rabe before his death in the bandits camp.

During the morale-boosting visit to communities, the governor expressed satisfaction with the level of coordination and visibility of security personnel, noting residents freely going about their lawful activities without disruption.

He commended the efforts of security agencies for sustained patrols and proactive deployment, describing the improvement as a positive step toward restoring lasting peace and stability across Katsina State.

The Theatre Commander, Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General W. B. Idris, had before the followup visit, briefed the governor on the operational engagement in the area.

The governor first visited Matazu town before proceeding to Sayaya, and later tot Mazoji, Fafawa, Nasarawan Kalgo, and Tashar Icce communities, who have suffered sustained bandits attacks before now.

He observed that residents are engaging in their lawful daily activities peacefully, an indication of improved stability in the area.

Radda later moved through Sayaya and adjoining communities, where he noted significant deployment of military personnel and other security formations strategically positioned along key routes and settlements.

He also passed through the Mazoji–Dutsinma axis before returning to Katsina, observing the development of patrols and coordinated operations by security agencies along the corridor.
