The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared winners in Saturday’s by-elections across several states, with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) recording a landslide victory in most of the contests.
The APC secured victories in senatorial, federal and state constituency elections in Enugu, Kebbi, Kano, Ondo and Nasarawa states, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) retained the Rivers South-East Senatorial District seat.
Enugu
APC candidate Ikeje Asogwa won the Enugu North Senatorial District by-election with 162,360 votes, defeating PDP’s Chief Nestor Ezeme, who polled 9,299 votes.
The by-election was conducted to fill the vacancy created by the death of Senator Okey Ezea on November 18, 2025.
Kebbi
In Kebbi State, Rabiu Garba Aiki of the APC emerged victorious in the Zuru State Constituency by-election to the State House of Assembly.
Aiki polled 4,887 votes, defeating Labour Party candidate Aliyu Galadima Muhammad, who secured 168 votes.
The seat became vacant following the death of former Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru.
Kano
APC’s Rabiu Shuaibu won the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency by-election with 35,356 votes.
He defeated Lawal Garba-Haruna of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), who garnered 268 votes, and Abubakar Yahaya-Muhammad of the Labour Party, who polled 98 votes.
The by-election followed the death of the constituency’s representative, Muhammad Danjuma-Hassan of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Rivers
The PDP’s Olaka Nwogu retained the Rivers South-East Senatorial seat for the party, polling 47,961 votes to defeat APC candidate Osar Erewari, who secured 1,647 votes.
The election was necessitated by the death of Senator Barry Mpigi in February.
Ondo
In Ondo State, APC candidate Dayo Faduyile won the Ondo South Senatorial District by-election with 68,474 votes, defeating APM’s Adeolu Akinwunmi, who polled 1,411 votes.
The seat became vacant following the appointment of former senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Nasarawa
In Nasarawa State, Halilu Danladi Envu-Alanza of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the by-election in Nasarawa North Senatorial District, with 45,362 votes.
He defeated Maku Labaran of Labour Party, who polled 12,931 votes, Emmanuel David Ombugadu of PDP, who garnered 11,570 votes, and Alaku Mohammed Steve of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who scored 1,496 votes.
The by-election in the senatorial district was conducted fill the vacancy created by the death of the Senator Godiya Akwashiki.
