The National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed shock over Governor Lawal’s claim recently made on BBC radio interview, which he allegedly denied any promise during campaign that he would end the lingering insecurity in the state.
In a statement signed by the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the party, hon. Murtala Gusau, while condemning the recently intensified attacks on the communities across Anka, Maradun and Zurmi local government areas of the state as unfortunate and it reflected the total failure of the concerned authorities which the state government is included.
The statement reads, “We are very surprised and absolutely shocked when we heard the state governor’s interview he granted to the BBC, in which he said he did not promise to end insecurity during his campaign”
“The NDC under the leadership of the Chairman Alhaji surajo Garba Mai katako, has condemned the Governor’s remarks in strong terms.
“As opposition party, we have formidable evidences both in audio and videos that featured Governor Lawal prioritizing end of insecurity that bedeviled the state while making his campaign promises where ever he visited for campaign across the fourteen local government areas of the state.
“The NDC stand on its toes to debunk the Governor’s claim by airing the evidences on numerous legally established outputs even across the nation for general public to witness”, the has claimed.
The NDC has also commiserated with Zamfara state Police Command, the good people of the state, the federal and state governments as well as the immediate family of 3 slain Police officers who lost their lives in the course of discharging their duty along Bagega-Anka road.
The party described the attack on security personnel as uncalled for, charging the federal government to ensure provision of all the necessary equipment to security agencies in the fight against insecurity in the state and northwest at large.
“We shall remain committed to always partner with security agencies in the fight against insecurity for peace to thrive in the state”, the statement has pledged.
