At last: peace returns to HFN as MVHA withdraws court case

The lingering crisis rocking the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) after it 2013 election that brought Alhaji Dauda Yusuf as president of the federation had come to an end following the Mega Veterans Handball Association (MVHA) withdrawing it case before the law court for the interest of handball development in Nigeria.

The vice president of the veterans, Saidu Jibril who disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja after a closed door meeting of both parties with the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC) Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye yesterday, said that five of its members have been co-opted into the federation.

According to him, two key members of the veterans were co-opted into the board of the HFN that prompt all handball stakeholders to agreed on a mutual ground in front of the DG to move the game of handball forwards for the interest of teeming Nigerians.

“I want to thank the DG for his fatherly role to ensure peace return to handball in Nigeria, both parties are happy for the resolution in order to move the federation forwards.

“Yes, we have agreed to withdraw the case from court because our demand has been met, the matter had been amicably resolved, it was agreed at the meeting that the resolution should be filed  in court as a terms of settlement to be entered as consent judgment that the matter has be resolved.

“The stakeholders of both parties have agreed to move the federation forwards and evidence of their consent to all decisions taken have been strictly signed as agreed, “he said.

Peoples Daily Sports gathered that Mr Patrick Atusu who had served handball in various capacities for over a decade was appointed as technical director, the athletes representatives was Mr. Emmanuel Shekwolo, addition international handball representative was Bar. Mark Jacob while Dr. Cletus Ogun and Mr. Nicholas Nwani were co-opted into the board member of the federation.
