Radda set to distribute 361 tricycle ambulances

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has inspected 361 tricycles set for distribution across all the political wards in the 34 Local Government Areas of the state.

The tricyles were put together by the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government Inspectorate and the state Primary Healthcare Development Agency.

They are to be deployed as ambulances at the ward level to convey patients to clinics, primary health centres and hospitals, as well as aid supervision and mobility at the local level.

The governor was taken round to inspect the tricycles by an Assistant Director in the Office of the Special Adviser on Local Government Inspectorate, Alhaji Mukhtar Shehu.

He informed the governor that the tricycles were assembled in Katsina, and explained to him the assembly process, specifications, and maintenance plan for the tricycles.

Radda examined the quality, durability, and suitability of the tricycles for both urban and rural terrains and commended the team to maintain standard, and ensure quality control as the assembling of the tricycles continues.

The state government is expected to distribute 361 tricycles, one for each of the 361 wards to improve mobility, ease transportation challenges at the grassroots, and support service delivery.

Some of the tricycles are to be deployed to Primary Healthcare Agency for use in remote communities, transporting medical supplies, and facilitating health outreaches, while others will be allocated to local government structures to enhance supervision and community engagement.

Radda said that the initiative was part of his administration’s commitment to grassroots development, improved healthcare access, and job creation for youths.

The governor directed relevant agencies to develop a transparent and accountable framework for allocation, operation, and maintenance to ensure that the tricycles serve their intended purpose for years to come.
