A House of Representatives aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the Jega/Gwandu/Aliero Federal Constituency, Aminullahi Mustapha, has resigned from the party and defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Mustapha announced his decision in a resignation letter dated July 5, 2026, addressed to the ADC Ward Chairman of Magaji B Ward in Jega Local Government Area.
He explained that the move followed extensive consultations with his supporters, political stakeholders and associates across the constituency.
The former ADC aspirant said he joined the APC because he believes the ruling party offers a better platform to pursue the development of the Jega/Gwandu/Aliero Federal Constituency and aligns with his political aspirations.
While expressing gratitude to the ADC for the opportunity to contest under its platform, Mustapha thanked party members for their support throughout his stay in the party.
An ally of former Abubakar Malami, Mustapha was formally received into the APC by Nasir Idris at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, alongside thousands of his supporters who also switched allegiance to the ruling party.
The latest defection adds to the wave of political realignments currently reshaping Kebbi State’s political landscape as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
