The Zamfara State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has downplayed the defection of Dr. Aslam Aliyu to the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that she was never a duly registered member of the party in the state.
Dr. Aliyu, a political ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, recently announced her resignation from the ADC, citing what she described as the party’s failure to present a concrete plan for addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
Reacting to the development, the ADC, through its State Publicity Secretary, Abdulhakeem Umar, stated that available party records showed Aliyu neither possessed a valid membership card nor completed the official registration process in Zamfara State.
The party stressed that her exit would have no impact on its leadership, organisational structure or activities, maintaining that it remained focused on strengthening its base with committed and duly registered members.
According to the statement, the ADC would continue to work with loyal members who believe in the party’s constitution, vision and objectives.
The party further noted that individuals unwilling to uphold its ideals were at liberty to leave, adding that its priority was to build a disciplined, united and principled political platform driven by members dedicated to its growth and long-term success.
