Gov Alia, Ex Economic Adviser, NLC Spox to feature at media group’s lecture July 16

Benue State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, former Chief Economic Adviser to the President, Professor Ode Ojowu and the Spokesperson of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Barr Benson Upah, will feature as Distinguished Guest of Honour, Chairman and Guest Lecturer respectively at a public lecture scheduled for Abuja on July 16.

Themed ” Rethinking Leadership Recruitment System in Igedeland Ahead of 2027,” the public lecture which is being organised by the Association of Igede Media Professionals is a platform for a robust engagement on the delicate topic of leadership emergence in Igedeland since the return of democracy in 1999.

A statement by the organizers said the event will offer patriotic sons and daughters of Igede nation the opportunity to give insights toward ensuring the emergence of only credible political leaders across all strata of governance to serve Igede people in the years ahead.

The statement signed by Patrick Ulaka Akobo and Dr Joseph Agi Ajochi, Chairman of Central Planning Committee and Chairman, Publicity Committee respectively, which announced the event slated for July 16, 2026 at Merit House, Abuja listed other dignitaries to include the Adirahu Ny’Igede, Chief Oga Ero, CP (retd) as Royal Father of the Day.

“The association aims to use the power of the media to drive credible leadership, accountability, inspire constructive dialogue for positive change and development, as well as preserve the rich cultural heritage of Igede nation,” it said.

It added that all Igede sons and daughters across the country as well as those in the Diaspora would storm Abuja for the grand event.
