AMAC chairman expands U.S. diplomatic partnerships to boost healthcare, economy, governance

The Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has concluded a high-level diplomatic mission to Washington, D.C. in the United States of America (USA), securing strategic international commitments aimed at elevating primary healthcare delivery, municipal governance, and economic exchange across the Council’s twelve wards.
Accompanying the AMAC Chairman on the mission were his Special Adviser on Political and Other Matters, Hon. Samuel James Nggada, and his Personal Aide, Ibrahim Ombugadu.
An e-signed statement by Kingsley Madaki, Maikalangu’s Chief Press Secretary disclosed that a key milestone of the visit was a bilateral session with Alderman Russell W. Stamper II, representing Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
It added that discussions centered on expanding the existing sister cities framework between Milwaukee and AMAC, alongside plans to appoint dedicated Council assistants to coordinate and oversee joint international development projects.
The statement noted that the current engagement builds on the successes of AMAC chairman’s prior official visit to the United States, which yielded a major shipment of medical supplies donated by the Wisconsin Medical Project.
It added that the equipment has already been deployed across AMAC’s primary healthcare facilities, enhancing emergency treatment capacities and maternal care.
According to the statement, to ensure municipal initiatives synchronize with national diplomatic goals, the delegation met with Ambassador Nuradeen Aliyu Biu, Head of Public Diplomacy, Information, and Culture at the Nigerian Embassy in Washington, D.C., who represented Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Ambassador Lateef Kayode Are.
Expanding the scope of the mission to embrace regional synergy, Maikalangu also engaged in a strategic roundtable with the Tanzanian Ambassador to the United States, exploring direct intra-African trade and developmental ties at the local council level.
“Our administration is committed to delivering practical results to the people of AMAC.
“By building direct partnerships with international cities and diplomatic missions, we are bringing real solutions to our primary health centers and municipal infrastructure,” Maikalangu stated
Reaffirming his administration’s pledge to translate international diplomacy into local outcomes, he assured residents that AMAC will continue leveraging global networks to enhance public services and raise living standards across the Area Council.
