The Zamfara State Chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) under the leadership of Alhaji Surajo Garba Maikatako has extended its profound condolences to the families and communities affected by the recent spate of unprovoked terrorist attacks in Talata Mafara and Bungudu Local Government Areas.

The statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the NDC, Alkassim Mustapha Kayatawa, said it is with deep shock and sorrow that the party has received the heartbreaking news of the brutal murder of innocent farmers in the communities of Sauna and Ruwan Gora, Talata Mafara LGA.

“These hardworking citizens were ruthlessly killed by bandits while several others sustained severe injuries and are currently receiving medical attention. Our hearts go out to the grieving families, and we share in their immeasurable pain.

“In a separate but equally horrific incident, terrorists invaded Bungudu LGA, abducted the serving local government Chairman, and took him to an unknown hideout in the bush. In the process, they murdered his security detail, including two gallant policemen and two vigilante members.

“We commiserate with the families of these fallen heroes who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

“The Zamfara NDC strongly condemns these heinous and cowardly acts of terrorism.

“The continued loss of innocent lives and the deliberate targeting of community leaders and security personnel are unacceptable and represent a grave threat to the peace and stability of our state.

“We therefore call on the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Zamfara State Government under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal to take immediate, decisive, and comprehensive action to end this banditry.

“It is important to note that both leaders made significant promises during their 2023 election campaigns to tackle insecurity and protect the lives and properties of Nigerians. It is their primary constitutional responsibility to ensure the safety of the citizens of Zamfara State.

“We urge them to move beyond rhetoric and implement proactive and sustainable strategies that will dismantle these terrorist networks and restore peace to our communities.

“Finally, we pray to Almighty Allah to grant the departed souls eternal rest in Aljannat Firdaus, grant the grieving families the fortitude to bear this great loss, and grant the injured a speedy and complete recovery.
