Kebbi Governor Constitutes LOC for Workers’ Summit

 

The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, has constituted an 8-man Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the successful hosting of the 2026 Nigeria Rights of Workers’ Summit.

 

The summit is scheduled to hold on 6th August, 2026, at the Presidential Lodge, Birnin Kebbi.

 

This was contained in a statement from the office of the Head of Service and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

 

According to the statement, the Head of the Civil Service Alhaji Malami Shekare will serve as Chairman of the Committee.

 

Members of the Committee included the Commissioner of Information and Culture Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK; Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC); Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT); Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC); Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA)  Equity Branch Birnin Kebbi; and the Special Adviser on Protocol.

The Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Hajiya Aishatu Abbas will serve as the Secretary of the committee.

 

The Committee has been mandated to liaise with the main organising committee to ensure the successful hosting of the summit, oversee the readiness of the Presidential Lodge as the venue of the event, and coordinate accommodation and transportation for special guests from the airport and within Birnin Kebbi.

 

The LOC is also to mobilise workers and other relevant stakeholders to participate actively, and work closely with security agencies to ensure adequate security throughout the programme.

The inaugural meeting of the Committee will hold on Friday, 31 July 2027.
