$9.3m arms deal: Presidency explanation not true, Says Giwa- Amu

Date:

Chief Giwa-AmuHuman Rights activist and Lagos-based lawyer, Chief Giwa-Amu has dismissed the explanation proffered by the Presidency and Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor over the 9.3 million dollars that was reported impounded in South Africa, describing it as balderdash ,lame, dumb, insalubrious and insagacious Speaking further, Amu said it is very sad that they could just explain away such perfidious and delirious use of an aircraft registered for private purposes styled as evangelism purpose.

“How can a private jet all of a sudden become an instrument for the transaction of arms deal? Where are our military jets and even the numerous aircrafts in the Presidential fleet?” he queried.

He, therefore, posited that the insecurity of this country has always rested on the inability of government to always do the proper thing.

On the opulence openly exhibited by men of God, Amu blamed their teeming congregation, who, to him, are simply gullible and who provide veritable grounds for these preachers to swindle them of their hard earned cash in the guise of submitting to the Church, ten percent of their gross earnings.

He said that he finds it difficult to understand how, in search of the knowledge of his God, that he needed to go under the umbrella of false prophets giving them his ten percent, because one pastor has just impressed it on his mind that that is what God requires of him.

On the call of some Nigerians on the Lagos state government to confiscate the collapsed building at the Synagogue Church in the same manner that it took over other collapse buildings in the state, Amu disagreed, stressing that it is his own candid view that Nigerians should in the first instance, commiserate with the Church and pray for the repose of the souls of those who perished in the unfortunate incident.
