Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has called on Nigerians to emulate the example of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) by promoting peace, unity and national development.

The governor made the call on Tuesday during the 2026 Maulud celebration organised by the Kaduna State branch of Fitiyanul Islam.

Sani commended the leadership of Fitiyanul Islam for organising the event, describing it as timely and important in strengthening community bonds.

“This gathering is about bringing everyone together to appreciate our Prophet, Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

“Today, we have gathered to emulate his teachings and lifestyle. He lived an exemplary life and brought everyone together, regardless of religion, ethnicity or tribe,” the governor said.

He noted that the Prophet’s inclusive leadership in Medina after his migration from Mecca remained a guiding example for contemporary leaders.

“If everyone follows the teachings and way of life of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), we will have a peaceful life, a peaceful nation and a peaceful society.

“As leaders, the only thing we can do is continue to emulate him. He did not discriminate against anyone, whether Muslims or Christians,” he added.

Governor Sani also commended Fitiyanul Islam for working closely with the Kaduna State Government to maintain peace and stability in the state.

He expressed confidence that Kaduna had become a model of peace and harmony in Nigeria through the government’s efforts to promote unity beyond religious and ethnic differences.

“Even here at this gathering, we can see many people. Some are Muslims, while some are Christians. In Kaduna, we do not judge you by your religion; it is about your character.

“I am pleased that today we are living in peace, harmony and unity in Kaduna State,” he said.

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, also echoed the governor’s message and called for continued prayers for Nigeria.

“My message is the same as the one the governor has just shared. Islam is about peace, and what we are seeking in this country right now is peace,” he said.

Lagos described the Maulud celebration as a peaceful, non-political religious gathering attended by thousands of people without incident.

He urged Muslims and Christians to continue praying for the country, stressing that prayers had helped sustain Nigeria’s economy and unity.

“What is keeping Nigeria moving is prayers. No country practices religion like Nigeria. That is why we produce the best Quranic reciters here, and you see how Christians are praying day and night everywhere,” he said.

The commissioner further urged citizens to reject divisive tendencies and prayed for an end to terrorism and kidnapping in the country.

The event was attended by government officials, religious leaders, traditional rulers and residents from across Kaduna State, who gathered to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
