3 killed, 24 injured as police, communities clash in Kamba

It was a catastrophe yesterday to the people of Kamba Local Government Area of kebbi state as police and the communities clashed, three killed, while 24 were injured over the release of ritual suspect by the police.

An eyes witness, Haruna Mohammed who spoke to People’s Daily on the condition of anonymity, said that the crisis started around 11pm when a ritual suspect was arrested by the police and the communities over had that the police have decided to release the suspect without any investigation.

According to him, a 5 years old girl was missing for 10 days and her body was later found at the uncompleted building while some of her body parts were missing like intestine, eyes and other parts of her body.

He therefore, said that after the investigation by the people of the communities the ritual suspect hail from Danda in Niger republic and was arrested by the communities and handle over to the police in the area who later released him.

The district head of Kamba Mamudu Zarumin Fana Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Umar Yakubu Kamba have confirmed the incident.

Confirming the incident to newsmen at the hospital, the I.C. Operation officer in charge of the hospital, Adamu Yahayah said that over 20 casualties were brought to the hospital while some of them who had serious several cases have been transfer to Birnin Kebbi FMC and Sahyayh General Hospital for further medical treatment.
