Kebbi Assembly Passes Amendment Bills for Two State Tertiary Institutions
The Kebbi State House of Assembly has passed amendment to two bills aimed at strengthening the administrative and operational frameworks of two state-owned tertiary institutions.
The bills are the Kebbi State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega (Amendment) Law, 2025 and the Kebbi State College of Nursing Sciences, Birnin Kebbi (Amendment) Law, 2025.
The two bills were considered and passed during Tuesday’s plenary presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Salihu Maikasuwa Dangoje.
The passage followed the presentation and adoption of reports by the House Committee on Higher Education, chaired by Dr. Suleiman Abubakar Fana.
The committee had subjected the proposed amendments to thorough scrutiny and consultations with officials of the affected institutions before presenting its findings to the House.
Following the adoption of the committee’s reports, the House proceeded with a clause-by-clause consideration of the bills. The amendments were subsequently unanimously adopted.
The legislative action is expected to further strengthen the legal and institutional frameworks governing the two tertiary institutions and enhance their capacity to effectively deliver on their educational and professional training mandates.
The two bills will now be transmitted to the Executive Governor of Kebbi State for assent, in line with the legislative process.
