The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu, has unveiled a five-point development agenda as the party formally commenced its campaign for the 2027 governorship election.

Speaking at the inauguration of his campaign in Abeokuta, Adebutu told supporters drawn from the state’s 20 local government areas that his administration would focus on rebuilding the economy, improving infrastructure and restoring workers’ welfare if elected.

The PDP candidate said his programme, tagged “ITURA DE,” was designed to deliver what he described as socio-economic liberation for residents of the state.

Adebutu outlined five priority areas for his proposed administration: strategic infrastructure development, entrepreneurial and workforce development, a strong and resilient economy, the creation of functional and livable communities, and a commitment to accountability, transparency and a corruption-free government.

He said the agenda was aimed at addressing what he described as years of hardship, neglect and economic difficulties experienced by residents under the current political leadership.

“We deeply acknowledge the excruciating agony our people have been subjected to for 15 unbroken years, stretching from 2011 to this very hour,” Adebutu said.

According to him, the PDP would pursue policies capable of creating wealth, expanding economic opportunities and improving the quality of life of workers and other residents.

He also sought to revive memories of the period when the PDP controlled Ogun State, particularly between 2003 and 2011, arguing that the party’s administration during that period prioritized grassroots development, workers’ welfare and economic activity.

Adebutu claimed that workers under previous PDP administrations received their pensions and gratuities as well as cooperative contributions on schedule, while labour was directly rewarded.

He further promised that his administration would make good governance and the delivery of tangible democratic dividends central to its operations.

The candidate described the PDP as a party committed to representing ordinary citizens and urged voters to support the party’s campaign for what he called a new direction for Ogun State.

“Our master plan for total socio-economic liberation is enshrined in our commitment to deliver good governance, quality service to the people and share a pedigree of prosperity,” he said.

The campaign launch marks the beginning of the PDP’s mobilization efforts across Ogun State ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with Adebutu seeking to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
