Over 3,000 Islamic clerics and Chief Imams drawn from various sects across the 14 local government areas of Zamfara State gathered at the weekend for a special prayer session in Talata Mafara.

The clerics sought divine intervention for the restoration of lasting peace in the state and the nation, the peaceful conduct of the upcoming 2027 general elections, and the victory of incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The event was organized at the residence of Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, the Director General of the 2027 Presidential Campaign Council. Prayers were offered for the protection and empowerment of Nigerian troops and security personnel operating across the country as they fight terrorism and armed banditry.

During the session, Sheikh Liman Dan Alhaji, a prominent cleric from the Gusau Central Mosque, prayed for peaceful elections in 2027 and called for divine intervention against forces attempting to trigger political or religious instability.

Another prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Sadiqu Saddeeq, prayed for Senator Yari’s success in executing his campaign mandate. Sheikh Saddeeq urged the people of Zamfara State to support the effort, describing the assignment as a collective responsibility for the entire state.

Responding to the gathering, Senator Yari encouraged the clerics to sustain their prayers for security across the nation, economic recovery, and the total defeat of criminal elements destabilizing the region.
