The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has rejected reports claiming that its members in Iga-Okpaya Ward, Apa Local Government Area, suspended former Commissioner of Power and Transport, Barrister Omale Omale.
The party described the purported suspension as invalid, insisting that those behind the document were not recognized members of the ward executive and lacked the authority to take disciplinary action against the former commissioner.
In a statement on Monday, APC Benue Publicity Secretary, Daniel Ihomun, said the party had “categorically disowned” the document and reaffirmed Omale’s status as a founding member and key stakeholder of the party in Benue South Senatorial District.
Ihomun noted that Omale had also previously served on the APC State Executive Committee as State Legal Officer, describing his contributions to the development of the party as well established.
According to him, no properly constituted and recognized APC Ward Executive Committee in Iga-Okpaya had suspended Omale.
He maintained that any disciplinary document issued by persons acting outside the recognized party structure could not be regarded as a valid APC decision.
The party spokesman therefore urged members of the public, party supporters and relevant authorities to disregard the purported suspension, stressing that it did not represent the position of the Benue APC.
He added that the party would continue to uphold its constitution and disciplinary procedures and would not permit individuals to impersonate recognized party organs or interfere with the rights of legitimate members.
