Performance for the Federal Capital Territory’s 2026 capital budget has reached 60 percent, enabling contractors to return to full capacity on major infrastructure projects across Abuja, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike disclosed on Wednesday.
Addressing journalists during a routine inspection tour of several major road projects, Wike explained that while initial release delays briefly affected contractor payments, funding flows have stabilized.
He assured residents that steady cash flow will keep critical road developments on track for completion well ahead of the 2027 general elections.
During the tour, the minister evaluated progress on several key sites, including Arterial Road SI in Kaura District, Collector Road C2 in Life Camp, Jereton Mariere Street in Gudu District, and the ongoing remodeling of the IBB International Golf Course, which is scheduled to reopen for tournaments by November.
In particular, Wike singled out Arterial Road N16, connecting Ring Road II to Ring Road III, as a major milestone.
He noted that despite challenging terrain and extensive bridge construction along the corridors, contractors have committed to delivering the project by the first week of January.
According to him, the steady execution of these key projects demonstrates how President Bola Tinubu’s administration has fundamentally redefined infrastructure delivery across the nation’s capital.
He also dismissed early political maneuvering ahead of upcoming election cycles, advising aspirants to present tangible records of service rather than engage in political distractions.
