Bola Mudasiru emerges National Chair of Nigeria Institution of Highway and Transportation Engineers (NIHTE)

Engr. Dr. Bola J. Mudasiru has been elected the new National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Highway and Transportation Engineers (NIHTE).

Mudasiru was elected on September 12, 2026, during the institution’s Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Nigerian Society of Engineers Auditorium, Akoka, Lagos. His election comes at a time when Nigeria’s highway and transportation sector faces challenges of infrastructure deficits, rapid urbanisation, road safety concerns, climate change, and the need to embrace emerging technologies.

A COREN‑registered civil engineer and licensed professional of the World Council of Civil Engineers (WCCE), Mudasiru brings over 20 years of experience in delivering major road, bridge, civil, and steel‑structure projects. He brings his expertise in construction management, project controls, cost estimation, regulatory compliance, and strategic leadership.

The new NIHTE Chairman has held senior roles with P.W. Nigeria Limited, Mitcherutti Contractors, Palton Morgan Holdings, SCOA Nigeria Plc, Aquagrowth Nigeria Limited, and Krisbol ESL.

He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (FNICE), NIHTE (FNIHTE), and the Institute of Highway Engineers, London (FIHE). He also holds memberships in the American Society of Civil Engineers (M.ASCE), International Association of Safety Professionals (M.IASP), and the Project Management Institute (MPMI).

Beyond NIHTE, Mudasiru is Vice President‑Elect (Anglophone) of the West African Federation of Engineering Organisations (WAFEO). He serves on the NSE Board of Fellows, the International Relations Committee, and represents Nigeria on the Executive Board – External Relations Committee of the Federation of African Engineering Organisations (FAEO). He also contributes to the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) Working Group on Engineering and Climate Change.

His election is expected to refocus attention on professional contributions to highway development, transportation planning, road safety, infrastructure maintenance, and climate‑resilient systems.

Mudasiru, who was also a Judge of the Nigerian Engineering Olympiad, has delivered technical papers at national and international platforms and earned several recognitions, including the 2024 Presidential Merit Award of the NSE and the 2025 CED Magazine Professional Man of the Year Award.

Stakeholders say his emergence as NIHTE National Chairman comes at a critical time, as Nigeria seeks improved standards in the planning, construction, and maintenance of its road and transportation infrastructure.
