Makinde: Government can’t meet all needs alone

Date:

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has called on wealthy individuals and corporate organisations to support government efforts to meet societal needs, particularly in education and community development.

Makinde made the call in Iseyin, Oyo State, during the inauguration of a new building donated to L.A. Primary School by a legal practitioner and President of the Oke-Ogun Development Consultative Forum, Ahmed Raji.

The governor said government could not provide all the needs of society without contributions from well-meaning individuals and organisations.

“This building can stand anywhere in the world. It shows that no government can do everything alone. Those who are blessed must support the education of our children,” Makinde said.

The donated facility is equipped with classrooms, offices, solar power, desks, chairs and modern learning gadgets.

Makinde commended Raji for investing in education and urged other privileged Nigerians to support initiatives that would improve the welfare of citizens.

He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to even development across Oyo State, irrespective of political affiliations.

According to him, development, rather than party loyalty, remains the guiding principle of his government.

“Governments and political parties will come and go, but the state will remain,” the governor said.

Makinde also highlighted ongoing industrial development in Iseyin, including the sugar factory near Fasola Farms, which is undergoing test runs.

He said improved road infrastructure had helped make the project viable and positioned the area for greater economic opportunities and global recognition.

In his remarks, Raji praised Makinde’s developmental efforts in Iseyin and the wider Oke-Ogun area.

He cited the Moniya–Iseyin Road, Oyo–Iseyin Road and Iseyin–Fapote–Ogbomoso Road among the infrastructure projects executed by the administration.

Raji also commended the establishment of the Iseyin campus of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, describing the projects as important contributions to development in the area.
