2027: Masari tasks APC campaign council with grassroots mobilization, dismisses opposition challenge

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political and Other Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will outperform the combined opposition parties in the 2027 presidential election.

Masari made the assertion on Wednesday during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, assuring Tinubu that the votes to be garnered by opposition parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), would be insignificant compared with the ruling party’s expected tally.

He, however, charged members of the campaign council to intensify grassroots mobilization, maintain party discipline and focus on delivering measurable electoral results rather than making unsubstantiated claims.

“The combined votes secured by opposition parties would not be commensurate with what the council intends to deliver,” Masari told the President.

Describing the campaign assignment as a solemn responsibility, he urged members to take their activities beyond meetings and political declarations to polling units, wards, local government areas and communities across the country.

“Stop talking to yourselves and start talking to the people,” he declared.

Masari cautioned against excessive meetings, inflated electoral projections and promises unsupported by verifiable grassroots engagement, insisting that the council’s performance should be measured by concrete achievements.

He also called on members to put aside internal disagreements, inflammatory statements and personal rivalries that could undermine the party’s electoral prospects.

The presidential aide specifically urged the Director-General of the campaign council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, to ensure effective coordination, unity and consistency in the council’s operations and public communication.

On the substance of the campaign, Masari said the APC must clearly communicate the Tinubu administration’s policies and achievements, particularly in fiscal restructuring, education, healthcare and infrastructure development.

He stressed the need for campaign officials to address the concerns of Nigerians with credible information and evidence rather than rely solely on political rhetoric.

Masari further called for compliance with electoral regulations and urged political parties to counter misinformation while promoting issue-based campaigns.

He also appealed to Nigerians to scrutinize the promises of political parties and participate actively in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
