All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant in Jigawa state, Faruk Adamu Aliyu, has vowed that if he is elected the Governor of Jigawa state in 2015, he will sell the newly constructed Jigawa Airport, arguing that the project is not the need of the people in the state.
Adamu, who stated this in Bauchi while speaking to journalists at the weekend, regretted that Governors of Jigawa and Bauchi states have wrongly emulated President Goodluck Jonathan failure by putting in place airports which is not the priority of the people.
“If I am voted in as Jigawa state Governor, I will sell the airport executed by Governor Lamido because it is the need of the people that I will put in place like sustainable roads, drinking water, electricity, which are the needs of our people, but airport is only executed for the elites, let’s work on our needs not wants”, Aliyu said.
He advised the incumbent Governor Sule Lamido to sell the airport to investors and use the money to enhance agricultural activities for economic recovery of the State, even as he lamented that poverty has ravaged the state.
He noted that same would be applied to Bauchi state if the APC’s form of government comes onboard in 2015, “government would sale the airport executed by Yuguda because it has no impact to the people”, he said.
The former lawmaker said the decision by the PDP to endorse President Goodluck Jonathan as its sole candidate ahead of the 2015 general election is a glaring chance for the opposition party to wrest power from the ruling party.
He said the government of Jonathan has nothing to present before Nigerians as part of his campaign promises apart from the nasty experiences occasion by the emergence of insurgency and unemployment among the youths.
