From Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau
Zamfara state Acting governor who is also the Speaker, State House of Assembly, Sanusi Garba Rikiji, has called on political office holders to be God-fearing while discharging their legitimate duties in the state.
Rikiji made the call Monday, during swearing-in ceremony of the new Chairman of Gusau local government council, Ibrahim Umar Tanko, following sudden death of the former council boss, Lawali Muhammad Mada in Saudi Arabia during this year’s hajj.
He challenged all elected leaders across the state to consider the death of the late local government Chairman as a lesson, as that could happen to them, and to virtually take it as a spur that would redirect them to deliver what they promised their people during campaigns and oath of office.
The Acting governor charged the new Chairman, who served as the vice to the late Lawali Mada, to ensure the continuation of lucrative projects started by his predecessor aimed at promoting the good people of the local government.
In his remarks of appreciation, the new council boss pledged his efforts to continue from where his predecessor stopped, adding that more developmental projects would be executed before the expiration of the tenure.
