Late NNN associate editor laid to rest

Former Associate Editor of New Nigerian Newspaper (NNN), Kaduna, Mr. John Akpomoshi Akpus, who died last Friday after a brief illness was yesterday laid to rest on his property located at Mahuta new extension, Kaduna.

Elder Hosea Yayock of ECWA Goodnews Church, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna, who presided over the funeral rites, reminded the bereaved family, friends and associates of the need to put God first in all they do because death is inevitable and could happen to anybody anytime. His wife, Mrs. Rakiya Akpomoshi John, described her husband’s death as shocking and great loss to the family. She however called on concerned authorities to speed up the payment of her husband’s

entitlements for the education of the children he left behind. Speaking on behalf of Nigerian Union of Journalists, the Acting Chairman of the Union in Kaduna, Alhaji Ismail Omipidan described the deceased as a big loss not only to New Nigerian Newspapers, but the entire journalism family within and outside the country. The Late John Akpus, as fondly called by friends, was born on 1st October, 1960 to the Akpus family in

Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa state. He started his journalism career with Concord Press of Nigeria (National Concord) as reporter between 1984-1988, from where he moved to the Nigerian Standard newspapers, Jos, as feature Writer-Senior correspondent in 1989. between 1991-1995. He later proceeded to New Nigerian Newspapers, Kaduna as Arts Editor in1995 till his death last week Friday. He is survived by wife, six children, aged mother and other relatives.
