APC registration: Gov Yari, Yarima register for membershipFrom Ibrahim Sidi Muh’d, Gusau

Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar of Zamfara State Tuesday has been fingered by the party stakeholders who accused him of failing to fulfill important promises made for the party members and the citizens of the state during campaign days.

This came at a stakeholders’ meeting organised by the party preparatory to the 2015 general elections during which the embattled Governor Yari was bombarded with several questions regarding issues surrounding the alleged failure of his administration to deliver for the party’s success come 2015.

Defending himself against one of the accusations tabled before the meeting relating to the issue of his apparent failure to ensure women empowerment and their involvement in some viable programmes, Governor Yari argued that initially the compiled list of women submitted to his office was full of malpractices and clear fraud, which he explained, compelled his administration to set up a verification committee to ensure that an authentic list was produced for adequate protection of public funds.

Speaking on pending promises the APC-led government under his administration was yet to

implement, like harmonization of civil service salary structure and youths empowerment, Governor Yari assured that they will be resolved before the end of this year.

A renowned politician in the state, Ibrahim Nabature Nahuce, charged the governor to emulate and adopt Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko’s style of leadership which many strongly believed was the secret behind having a strong APC in the neighbouring Sokoto State.

Nahuce said, “Under the good qualities of Wamakko’s style of leadership in Sokoto State, all members of the APC were carried alone with the gains of award of contracts and instant payment, the development which made them loyal to him and is capabile of promoting the name of the party among their people across the state against any move meant for the sale of opposition parties”.

He further called on Governor Yari to stop running the affairs of the state alone, but rather should give listening ears to the party stakeholders as they could contribute much even better than him for the rapid development of the state’s economy.

A source close to the APC in the state revealed that the meeting was organised to serve as a rescue mission by the party stakeholders in stopping the incessant defection of members of the party in the state, the situation which they said is re-energizing the opposition parties towards the general elections come 2015.

It would be recalled that a number of members of the ruling APC comprising Commissioners, Senior Special Advisers, Special Advisers and lawmakers of some local government councils have dropped the party for the PDP over what they described as the governor’s style of leadership in running the affairs of the party.
