2015: Group obtains PDP’s Senate nomination form for Aduda

As the forthcoming 2015 general election draws closer, some Abuja indigenes under the umbrella of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Geo-Political Leaders Forum, have purchased the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) nomination form for Senator Philip Aduda, to join the race for the lone FCT Senatorial seat in the National Assembly.

According to the group, their action was because that Aduda, who currently occupies the position, has performed remarkably, since his assumption as a senator, representing the people of FCT.

Presenting the PDP nomination form to Aduda, yesterday in Abuja, on behalf of the indigenes, their Chairman, Ambassador Jacob Ayuba Ngbako, said they Jointly took the decision to purchase the form after due consultation with different stakeholders on who will represent them well, and they came up with Aduda, as the best among others seeking the same position.

“Let me tell you- our distinguished senator that this decision is not my own but a collective one of all and sundry in FCT and I have also seen what you have done to our people.

“In fact, you (Aduda) have made us proud, you have worked with President Goodluck Jonathan, to ensure that we all (FCT indigenes) continue to have a say in the running of Government in Nigeria and you have brought dividends of democracy to our door steps.

“And that’s why after due consultation with different stakeholders on who will represent them well, and they came up with your name (Aduda), so, we jointly took the decision to purchase the form for you to seek re-election into the Senate, in order for you to continue your good work,” Ngbako stressed.

However, Ambassador Ngbako also advised the FCT PDP Executives to be fair, and provision of a level playing field for all aspirants vying for various positions, that will be going for primary under the Party, saying that is what the party stand for.

In his responds, Senator Aduda, who would be running for a second term in the Senate, expressed gratitude to all residents of Abuja, and thanked the FCT Political leaders for purchasing the nomination form for him.

According to him, such gesture will spur him to double what he has been to doing for FCT people especially rural dwellers in the Territory.

Furthermore, Aduda advised leaders at all level to know that power belong God, “therefore whoever is given power should use for the benefit of all.”

Highlight of the occasion was Aduda unfolding of his programmes for the FCT people, and interaction with Party leaders and other stakeholders on how he will better the lot of FCT residents when he returns to the Senate for the second term.

Peoples Daily recalls that barely a week, after quitting his position as the Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Political, Budget and National Assembly, Senate Usman Jibril Wowo, at the weekend, made clear his interest in contesting for the lone Senate office of Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Wowo, who had hitherto now, repeatedly refused to acknowledge or dismiss his interest for the position, formally picked the nomination/expression of interest form to contest the only senatorial FCT seat in the National Assembly, under the platform of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) posing a challenge to the Aduda.
