The Nasarawa State leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said automatic tickets will be offered to members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly who may wish to contest for the forthcoming general elections.

This was disclosed recently during the PDP stakeholders meeting held at the party secretariat, though the party urged elders in their respective constituencies to however warn any erring member who might have been found wanting and consequently resolve the matter amicably to sustain the party.

This decision was taken during the party’s stakeholders meeting preparatory to forth coming delegate congress scheduled for next week when a motion to that effect was raised by a member and unanimously accepted by the congregation.

Addressing the stakeholders, state chairman of the party, Chief Yunana Iliya, said the aim of the meeting is to ensure that PDP returns to power by 2015.

His words: “I want to assure that PDP will clinch the Lafia Government House by 2015, but I cannot tell you who will be the next governor. However, what we want is to ensure that PDP takes over power.

“I also urge you to adopt consensus candidature in the forthcoming general elections; this is because consensus had worked during the recent local government elections in the state as the party triumphed in almost all the 13 local government areas of the state.”

Chief Iliya also directed that female members of the party from the various council wards of the state should be equally selected as delegates in the forth coming delegate congress in order to comply with the affirmative.

Also speaking, a chieftain of the party, Mr. Nawani Aboki Ezekiel, appealed to the state chapter of the party to petition the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to suspend its proposed issuance of permanent voters card in the state till December, 2015.

Aboki said the appeal is pertinent as some parts of the state have been deserted following communal clashes that ravaged the southern senatorial district.
