Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins will be penning a new deal with his MLS side, Seattle Sounders later this week according to reports from the United States.

The Weapon of Mass Destruction who may be recalled by Super Eagles new handler, Shuaibu Amodu has enjoyed scintillating form for Sounders this season. Even though he has one more year guaranteed year on his contract, plus another option year in 2016, the MLS outfit want the 30-year old striker to pledge his future with them.

With just one game remaining in the regular-season, Martins, who had stints with Inter Milan of Italy, Newcastle of England and Wolfsburg in the German Bundesliga has banged in 17 goals and 12 assists in league play. To his tally are two more goals in U.S. Open Cup play. Both his league and all-competition goal totals represent Sounders MLS records.

Ever since arriving in Seattle last year after a contentious transfer from La Liga side, Levante, Martins has been lethal acquisition for Sounders given maximum output once he is injury free.

The power playing striker has scored 25 goals in just 50 appearances for Sounders.
