Home Owners’ Charter: Ogun to give 50,000 C-of-O in November

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has promised residents of the state, especially those who applied for Home Owners’ Charters Scheme that not less than 50,000 of them would be given their Certificate of Occupancy next month.

The governor made the promise in Abeokuta while answering questions from guests at a Town Hall put together as part of means of gathering contribution towards the preparation for the 2015 budget.

It would be recalled that the Amosun government in December 2013 introduced the Home Owners’ Charters programmes as a means for home owners who built their houses without proper documentation to correct it.

The governor’s announcement came on the heels of apprehension by over one hundred applicants who applied and paid for the Owners Home Charter, particularly, residents of Arepo Journalists Estate in Isheri area of the State.

Before Governor Amosun’s words of assurance on the programme, yesterday, residents of the Estate were embittered that the State Government had neglected them, despite the fact that they have shirked in their responsibilities as residents of the Estate.

“We are planning a big handing over. Everyday, officials in charge of the Home Owners Charters, work round the clock and the only thing remaining is for me to sign all the documents” Amosun said amid thunderous ovation from guests at the meeting”.

Though the governor noted that his administration was still not where it is supposed to be on the Home Owners Charter issue, promising that government would continue to work vigorously to ensure that more people benefit from the programme.

Governor Amosun also said that his government would ensure that all the land in the state were titled, noting that if the people of the state were determined ,the task of titling land in the state would be an easy one.

He assured of his administration’s determination to industrialize the state and put it on the path of development, just as he confirmed that the contributory Pension scheme of workers was giving his administration nightmare.

Amosun,at the meeting also announced that he had approved the appointment of about 421 Teachers out of the over 700 who recently sat for examinations, as part of government’s employment drive.

Also speaking the State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mrs. Oluwande Muoyo said the Town Hall meeting consultative meeting was aimed at getting the inputs of all, as the state government prepares the 2015 budget.

She called on the people of the state to make the best use of the time by coming up with suggestions on projects that would further enhance the economy of the State, assuring that government would continue to be receptive to ideas and advice from stakeholders in the implementation of its programmes.
