Family petitions AIG, seeks justice over alleged murder of son in Sokoto

he family of a student allegedly killed by some unidentified miscreants, popularly known as Area Boys, at the weekend in Sokoto, has petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police, in charge of Zone-10, to bring the perpetrators to book.

The victim was identified as Bilyaminu Yusuf, a son of a prominent elder statesman, Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar Yabo, Baraden Yabo was allegedly murdered by suspected hoodlums.

The incident according to an eyewitness occurred around Gidan Doki of Gawo Nama area of Sokoto city.

It was said that the deceased had on the fateful day went to the area in company of his nephew, one Habibu Abubakar to collect a message from another friend simply identified as Audu who resides in the area.

However, on reaching there, he was allegedly surrounded by some hoodlums who attacked him with dangerous objects.

Another account detailed that the the victim nephew had earlier been attacked few months ago by the same set of miscreants for allegedly wearing a pair of shoe customised with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s logo.

In a petition letter signed on behalf of the family, by their Counsel, Mr Mukhtar Yabo detailed that the deceased was reportedly killed by two suspects and other accomplices on the fateful at the Gidan-Doki, Gawon-Nama area of Sokoto metropolis.

“We are therefore on behalf of the victim’s family requesting you Sir to use your good office to bring the perpetrators of this injustice to book. “So as to safeguard any break down of law and order in the state,” the petitioners urged.

The Spokesman of the command, DSP Al-Mustapha Sani confirmed the incident. “The report of the alleged murder was made by the family of the deceased at the Gwiwa police station in Sokoto city.

“Investigations had since begun and the case will be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department of the command on Monday” he added.

Sani also promised that the police will do everything humanly possible to arrest the suspected killers, with a view to bring them to book.
