The National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) in collaboration with TetFUND and UNESCO International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA) has organized the second phase of Capacity Building Workshop for pre- service teacher Educators of Early Childhood Care and Education in Colleges of Education.
The workshop with the theme ‘ Towards Enhancing Development of Cultural Relevant Early Childhood Care And Education for Pre service Teachers’ organized in Abuja drew participants from the South -East, South- South, South -West and North- East Zones of Nigeria.
In his welcome address, Executive Secretary of NCCE, Professor Muhammad Ibn Junaid, said the need to address the normal apprehension of every human being about change informed the Commission’s decision to embark on series of workshops for all implementing stakeholders of the new programme.
‘Our aim is to acquaint them with the rationale for the review of the minimum standards and the quality of assurance accreditation toolkit.
He said the workshop will provide a platform form where the commission and the implementers will rub minds, share experiences and discuss their expectations as implementers, the possible challenges they may face in the course of implementation with a view to proffering solutions for the successful take-off of the programme.
Prof. Junaid commended the involvement of TETfund and other stakeholders in reforming of Nigeria’s teachers and towards building their capacity of teacher educators.
Fielding questions from the media, programme Specialist with IICBA, Dr. Patience Awopegba, said, “we need to extend and ascent of children especially who are vulnerable and disadvantaged, must of childhood education care are found difficult for us to extend or expand this facility to be, or is it because we don’t have the indigenous that sink into the air account to culture and relevant of referring children for life into consideration.”
“We are involve for outside while we are Nigerians, we are Africans, the truth is yes we do and so, we have government that will make us to have the frame work available for us to have programme that are relevant and taking care of the all aspect of child development, we
have deferent domain in child development and so we look at how we are bringing up our children.”
