An Upper Area Court in Zuba, Abuja, on Tuesday sentenced Salvation Timothy of Dawaki Hillside (FCT) to five years imprisonment for raping a 16-year old girl.
Malam Aminu Sa’ad, the presiding judge, handed down the judgment on the 21-year old security guard when he pleaded guilty to the one count charge of rape.
Sa’ad said there was no option of fine due to the gravity of Timothy’s crime.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Kelechi Echendu, told the court that Madam Sarah Audu, also of Dawaki Hillside, reported the matter at Dutse Alhaji Police Station on Nov., 2.
Echendu said the convict forcefully had carnal knowledge of the girl in his room opposite the complainant’s house when she went to sell soft drinks.
“He admitted committing the crime during interrogation by the police.’’
The prosecutor told the court the offence contravened the provisions of Section 283 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
