Thousands decamp to APC, PDP in Niger

Over 2000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Suleja, Niger State have decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) even as 3000 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in Lapai local government joined the APC yesterday.

Leader of the decampees in Suleja, Alhaji Abdullahi Suleman who was three times Suleja council chairman, said they had to leave the APC because the party had no direction, adding that they were also made to swear by the Quran to abide by rules and directives from the party.

According to Suleiman ‘’APC is the only party that will make you swear with the Quran to abide by rules and directives of the Party which we did but when we discovered that it is all deceit, we had to leave the Party back to the PDP where we left from.’’

Also speaking in an APC rally yesterday in Lapai, the council party chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Tauheed Ebwa noted that the 3000 decampees cut across various wards of the local government who were officially received at the beginning of the rally which he said marked the success of their party at February polls

The PDP decampees in Lapai local government include the immediate past council Vice chairman, Isah Ismaila Zago and its speaker, Ibrahim Angulu Edzu who in their separate remarks accused the ruling party of not doing enough in providing dividend of democracy to the citizenry.

Speaking after receiving them into the PDP, Governor Aliyu said most people who left the PDP felt that the popularity of the APC because of its presidential candidate was going to ‘catch fire’ but when reality dawned on them that it’s a party revolving around one person, they had to come back home. “They had to come back to what they are use to” he said.

In the same vein, the leader of the APC and deputy governor of the state, Ahmed Musa Ibeto reiterated the determination of his new party to win at all levels of the forthcoming elections because of the fairness, justice and credibility of the party members.

The gubernatorial candidate of APC in the state, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello was asked by the teaming supporters not to say a word as his message has gotten to them long before now assuring him of their vote come February 2015.
