The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D, has congratulated a former speaker of the House, Hon. Patricia Olubunmi Etteh, on her 70th birthday anniversary.
Speaker Abbas hailed Etteh for her contributions to national development through the legislature, recalling with nostalgia how she became the first female Speaker of the House.
Etteh represented Ayedaade/Isokan/Irewole Federal Constituency of Osun State at the House from 1999 to 2011, during which she served as Speaker for about five months in 2007.
“I congratulate Hon. Etteh on her 70th birthday and wish her more prosperous years ahead in good health and sound mind,” the Speaker said.
Speaker Abbas noted that several women have been in the House and have shown their skills in leadership, governance and politics.
He said Hon. Etteh remains one of the fine lawmakers the House has ever produced, noting her laudable contributions when she served briefly as Speaker.
